The Grades 6 to 8 Programme at SIFC has been designed as a balanced and stimulating curriculum that provides academic challenge and develops the life skills of students from the ages of 11 to 14 years old. 

These years are a critical period in the development of young people. Success in school is closely related to personal, social and emotional well-being. At a time when students are establishing their identity and building their self-esteem, a broad and balanced curriculum can motivate students and help them to achieve success in school and in life beyond the classroom. 

Our Programme is challenging both academically and socially, where students are stretched and challenged, but guided and supported in a positive and caring environment. It has been designed to refine the core skills initiated in the Primary School, with specialist teachers guiding students in the fundamental subject-specific concepts and skills that they will require for higher studies in related academic areas. 

Our Programme engages students in a range of mandatory subjects, including the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Sciences. In addition, courses in the Social Sciences, Arts, World Languages, Physical Education and other exploratory subjects in areas such as Computing ensure that our students are able to learn and develop across a range of subjects. 

The ability to communicate in more than one language is a key goal in the Middle School Programme. Realizing that many of our students are English second language learners, our curriculum places an emphasis on language and literature in both Chinese and English.

Our Programme allows students to build on their personal strengths and to embrace challenges in all subjects. It offers students opportunities to develop their potential, to explore their own learning preferences and develop a strong sense of personal identity.
