SIFC Students Performed Excellent at HIBB!

The International History Bee and Bowl are two academic quiz competitions with a history focus (the Bee is for individual students, the Bowl is for teams) that are held worldwide. All IHBB events are held in English and feature comprehensive questions on all aspects of history. These will help students develop confidence, deepen historical understanding, and lead to friendships formed at tournaments. University admissions officers also are often keenly interested in past participation and achievements in academic competitions.

SIFC Students competed in the International History Bee and Bowl Shenzhen Championships on December 14. There were over 20 teams and 100 students participating this year, including students from Macau. The competition was fierce.

There were five bowl and bee rounds with questions ranging on topics from Chinese history to World War One and American pop culture. It took a wide range of knowledge to be successful this year. Despite the challenge from tough competition, SIFC had a very successful effort. Paul Stockmann and Jerry Tian won 3rd place for the bee tournament in the varsity and junior varsity divisions, respectively. They will compete in the Asian Championships in Seoul next May.
