School Visit


On October 26th, there were two admission events at SIFC.

In the morning, four admission officers paid a visit to our school, including University of Oregon, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Missouri and Indiana University-Bloomington.

After finishing second period, students were all ready and excited about the event.

To begin with, each admission officer delivered a brief speech about their school.

University of Oregon (UO)

The University of Oregon is a public flagship research university in Eugene, Oregon. Founded in 1876, the institution's 295-acre campus is along the Willamette River. Since July 2014, UO has been governed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon. The university has a Carnegie Classification of "highest research activity" and has 19 research centers and institutes. UO was admitted to the Association of American Universities in 1969.

The University of Oregon is organized into five colleges (Arts and Sciences, Business, Design, Education, and Honors) and seven professional schools (Accounting, Architecture and Environment, Art and Design, Journalism and Communication, Law, Music and Dance, and Planning, Public Policy and Management) and a graduate school. Furthermore, UO offers 316 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Most academic programs follow the 10 week Quarter System.


University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder)

The University of Colorado Boulder is a public research university located in Boulder, Colorado, United States. It is the Flagship University of the University of Colorado system and was founded five months before Colorado was admitted to the Union in 1876.

In 2015, the university comprised nine colleges and schools and offered over 150 academic programs and enrolled almost 17,000 students. Twelve Nobel Laureates, nine MacArthur Fellows, and 20 astronauts have been affiliated with CU Boulder as students, researchers, or faculty members in its history. The university received nearly $454 million in sponsored research in 2010 to fund programs like the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, and JILA.


University of Missouri (MU)

The University of Missouri is a public, land-grant research university in Columbia, Missouri. It was founded in 1839 as the first public institution of higher education west of the Mississippi River. As the state's largest university, it enrolled 30,870 students in 2017, offering over 300 degree programs in 20 academic colleges. It is the flagship campus of the University of Missouri System, which also has campuses in Kansas City, Rolla, and St. Louis.

MU is one of the nation's top research institutions and one of the 34 public universities that are members of the Association of American Universities. There are more than 300,000 MU alumni living worldwide with over one half residing in Missouri. The university was ranked 129th among national universities in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

 

Indiana University-Bloomington (IUB)

Indiana University Bloomington is a public research university in Bloomington, Indiana. With over 40,000 students, IU Bloomington is the flagship institution of the Indiana University system and its largest university.

Indiana University is one of America's "Public Ivy" universities, which refers to the top public universities in the United States that are considered to provide a quality of education comparable with the Ivy League. It is a member of the Association of American Universities and has numerous schools and programs, including the Jacobs School of Music, the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, the Kelley School of Business, the School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, the School of Optometry, the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, the Maurer School of Law, the School of Education, the Media School, and the School of Global and International Studies.

After the presentation, we had our favorite Q&A section. During this time, students were discussing actively with officers.

 

In the afternoon, three admission officers went to visit SIFC, including The University of Tennessee, Felician University and Arizona State University.

The University of Tennessee(UT)

The University of Tennessee is a public sun- and land-grant university in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. Founded in 1794, two years before Tennessee became the 16th state, it is the flagship campus of the University of Tennessee system, with nine undergraduate colleges and eleven graduate colleges. It hosts almost 28,000 students from all 50 states and more than 100 foreign countries. In its 2019 universities ranking, U.S. News & World Report ranked UT 115th among all national universities and 52nd among public institutions of higher learning. Seven alumni have been selected as Rhodes Scholars. James M. Buchanan, M.S. '41, received the 1986 Nobel Prize in Economics. UT's ties to nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, established under UT President Andrew Holt and continued under the UT–Battelle partnership, allow for considerable research opportunities for faculty and students.

Felician University

Felician University is a private Roman Catholic university in New Jersey. The university has two campuses, one in Lodi and one in Rutherford. It was founded as the Immaculate Conception Normal School by the Felician Sisters in 1923 and changed name several times in its history, most recently in 2015 to Felician University. Enrollment is approximately 2,500, with undergraduates comprising around 2,000 students. 21% are men, and 79% are women.

Arizona State University (ASU)

Arizona State University is a public metropolitan research university on four campuses across the Phoenix metropolitan area, and four regional learning centers throughout Arizona.

ASU is one of the largest public universities by enrollment in the U.S. As of fall 2018, the university had about 73,000 students attending classes across its metro campuses, including 60,000-plus undergraduates and more than 12,000 postgraduates. At the same time, ASU welcomed its largest-ever freshman class; the nearly 13,000 enrollments represented a 12 percent increase from fall 2017. More than 36,000 students are enrolled in ASU Online courses.
