One day in October 2018, all SIFC members received an email like this. The main purpose of this email was to encourage us to work harder together to cultivate the reading culture of our school.

Many studies have shown that continuous silent reading (SSR) programs are not only useful for reading, but also beneficial to form a good school spirit. Students will read for a period of time without interruption. When doing this continuous silent reading, they let go of other things at hand and stick to their reading plan.

We decided to start our 10-minute SSR program every day before the first class in the afternoon, that is, every day at 1:10 pm, all faculty and students read their own books for ten minutes! And this SSR program is just a small step in our many initiatives to help students “make reading a habit”.

Cultivating students' reading habits, we actually have a lot to do.

Cultivating students' reading interest, improving students' reading ability, allowing students to read consciously and enjoy reading is our ultimate goal. Instead of teaching students all aspects of knowledge, it is better to teach students more ways to gain knowledge.

Reading can be taken place in the classroom, in the office, in the reading corner, or outdoors.

We have children who read under the blue sky and gain good reading results - the goal is that children are happy to read. The children who read have become the most beautiful scenery on campus.

Reading soaks into everyone’s heart like a stream. Take a seat, sup a mouthful of coffee or tea, and open your book. You can release stress and relax when reading.

Love reading and keep it as a habit. We are in action.

For the sake of knowing students’ reading habits and interest, and improving their reading environment, the school designed 3 questionnaires separately for students, teachers, and parents to fill in, so that we can help students to read better.

Please use the following QR code to fill in the questionnaire. It will cost you only 3 minutes.

The Questionnaire is anonymous. Students, teachers and parents should fill in the form separately. The access to questionnaire will be closed at 10:00p.m. on November 27th.
